Hydrotherapy in its most modern form

Hydrotherapy with the use of water and soothing hydromassage eliminates pain in the body and helps it regain its muscle strength. The first person to understand the value of water was the Greek philosopher Thalis, who saw water as a primordial element of all things. The first people to experience the benefits of water that can provide body and mind were the Romans, who introduced swimming as their daily habit. The Middle Ages were a dark period when the use of water to enhance prosperity was considered fraudulent, but between 1700 and 1800 many hydrotherapy departments began to prosper again. Water is now starting to become synonymous with health and different practices are designed to provide various targeted benefits, from sea salt-based thalassotherapy to alternating hot and cold water. Near the end of the 19th century a major leap was made in Germany with the industrial production of cast-iron bathtubs, followed by the revolution that led to tubs with Jacuzzi’s built-in hydrotherapy system.
